Do not litter! (hong kong)
January 29, 2007
Since the SARS-epidemy a few years ago, Hong Kong has taken a lot of precautions. One of them is to keep the streets clean. Any littering will be fined. In contrary of what the photo says, I believe the fine is now somewhere around 1500 dollars.
Photostory: Fake clothes at ladies market (hong kong)

Ladies Market in Hong Kong (officially named Tung Choi street) is located in Mong Kok and is a true tourist spot, no wonder that you will always see some non-chinese haggling with the shop keeper. You can buy all kind of stuff there, Tshirts, chinese arts, purses. You name it. They have one thing in common though, they are cheap and often fake.
Try to haggle and you can often get 60% off the price (and you’d still be ripped off). I’ve seen “gwailo’s” (as how westerners are called by the Hong Kong people) think they got a great deal, haggling 60% off some fake wallet. But seconds later, when a chinese looking AND speaking guy can get almost 90% off. But whatever, as a tourist, the price is still a steal. (more…)
Photostory: Hong Kong Street Vendor
January 26, 2007
There is really no reason to be hungry in Mong Kok, Hong Kong, street vendors are everywhere. No matter how hot the weather is, you will always find a large bunch of people surrounding a foodstall to have a litle snack. Which is quite a weird phenomenom, how can you enjoy the hot fish meatballs or fried seafood when it’s so humid and hot in the summer? Nevertheless, one stick of fish meatballs is only 8 Hong Kong Dollar. No wonder so many youngsters are fond of it.

Minimal weight? Prepare your luggage!
January 7, 2007
You know you will be going on a shopping spree when you go to a foreign country, but how do you get all your souvenirs back home? Usually you are only allowed to take a minimum of luggage back with you. Unless you’re in business/first class or are flying to some country which allows you 60kg of luggage, you will face the problem of “souvenirs”/allowed weight-ratio.
